Adding entries to a competition
An entry is a single competitor – one player for singles, or a pair for doubles. An entry has to be added, completed and secured before it can be placed into the draw.
Add an entry
Go to Competitions › Entries and select Add Entry. The Entry List groups entries under tabs: All, Secured, Tentative, Waiting and Withdrawn. Only secured entries are available to place in a schedule.

The Entry List, grouped by Secured / Tentative / Waiting / Withdrawn.
What each entry needs
- Player(s) – one for singles, two for doubles.
- A primary contact – required before the entry can be secured.
- Confirmation – once complete the entry shows as Secured and becomes available for the draw.
Doubles entries
A doubles entry holds two players. After both are added, MatchPoint builds the display name automatically in the form “Surname1, F. / Surname2, F.”. You’ll see this exact name when placing the pair into the draw.
- If a doubles entry shows a “1 of 2 players” warning, the second player didn’t save – add them again.
- If a pair came in as two separate singles entries, the competition was in Singles format when they were added. Change the format to Doubles, remove the stray entries, and re‑create the pair.
Removing an entry
A secured entry can’t simply be deleted – MatchPoint blocks it. Withdraw the entry first (this unlocks it), then delete it. This withdraw‑then‑delete order is also how you clean up any half‑finished entries.
