Building a schedule (fixtures and CSV import)

Updated 8 Oct 2026

The schedule is the set of fixtures – which slot plays which, across each round and section. Go to Competitions › Schedules and select New Schedule. Schedules sit under Draft and Final tabs.

Auto-generate a knockout

For a straightforward seeded knockout, let MatchPoint generate the bracket. Note that it places competitors in standard seeded order (spreading seeds apart), not as simple consecutive pairs – so slot 2 is not necessarily the player you’d expect next to slot 1. If you need an exact layout, use the CSV import.

Import a CSV (consolation, compass and play-offs)

For anything beyond a single bracket, a CSV import is the fastest and most precise route. The file has seven columns, in this exact order:

  • Round – round number within the section, starting at 1.
  • Home / Away – who plays: a slot number, -1 for a bye, or a reference to an earlier fixture’s winner/loser.
  • Day – match date (YYYY-MM-DD). Leave blank for byes.
  • Time – start time (HH:MM, 24‑hour). Leave blank for byes.
  • Green/Rink – court/green, optional.
  • Section – section/pool number. Main draw = 1, consolation = 2, and so on.

Referring to winners and losers

Fixtures are numbered by their row order across the whole file (the first data row is fixture 1):

  • A plain number (e.g. 5) means the competitor in that slot.
  • -1 means a bye; the other side advances automatically.
  • 12-W means the winner of fixture 12; 12-L means the loser of fixture 12.

Winner/loser references are what let losers drop into a consolation or compass section. They can only point backwards – at fixtures listed earlier in the file.

Check before you import: the importer resolves references literally and doesn’t check that they make bracket sense, so a mistyped reference imports cleanly but looks wrong. Re‑importing replaces the schedule and wipes any results already entered.

Place competitors and finalise

  1. Map each secured entry to its slot. For doubles, match on the auto‑built “Surname, F. / Surname, F.” name. Leave bye slots unmapped.
  2. Rename sections from the defaults to meaningful names (Main Draw, Consolation, Play‑off 5–8, etc.).
  3. Set the round names per section (Round 1, Quarter Finals, Semi Finals, Final).
  4. Mark the schedule as Final once the structure is right. This locks the fixtures so they can be scored.
