Mapping a bye in an existing competition

Updated 15 Oct 2026

When a player withdraws from a competition that has already been drawn, you can unmap them and put a Bye in their slot. The draw stays as it is, and every fixture the player was in becomes a bye for their opponent, so you don't need to regenerate the schedule.

There are two parts, both on the competition's Competitors page: unmap the withdrawing competitor to free up their mapping number, then Map Bye to that number.

Before you start

  • You can only do this if no results have been entered for that competitor. If they have played and been scored in any fixture, you can't replace them with a bye this way.
  • The schedule should already be Final. This process changes a live draw, not a draft.
  • Note the withdrawing player's Mapping number before you unmap them. You'll pick that same number for the bye.
  • The 9000-range numbers (9001, 9002 and so on) in the mapping dropdown are for a competitor who withdraws partway through an event.

Steps

1. Go to Competitions › Schedules and select the Final tab. Find the competition.

Check the result in Fixtures

Choose View Fixtures from the schedule's actions menu. Each fixture the withdrawn player was in now shows BYE, with their opponent's name in bold.

Undoing a bye

If the player comes back, reverse the steps:

  1. On the Byes tab, click the actions button on the bye, choose Unmap Bye, then click UNMAP.
  2. On the Unmapped tab, click the player's actions button and choose Map Competitor.
  3. Select their original mapping number, then click MAP.

Their name replaces BYE in the fixtures again.
