Import entries from another competition

Updated 14 Oct 2026

Use Import Entries to bring players or teams from a previous competition into a new one, so you don't have to re-enter them. Common uses: a new season with mostly the same teams, or the second half of a season split over Christmas.

Before you start

  • The competition you're importing into must already exist. Create it from scratch or with Copy (see Copy a competition).
  • The competition you're importing from should be Completed. Not all eligible competitions may appear in the search; you can search by the competition's reference code (e.g. COMP-123), shown on its dashboard.

Steps

1. Go to Competitions and find the competition you want to import into (a new competition is usually in the Draft tab). Click the actions button (spanner icon) and choose Import Entries.

2. In Import entries from, type at least 3 characters of the previous competition's name (or its reference code) and select it.

3. The previous competition's entries are listed with their results. Choose which to bring across:

  • click the + next to an entry to add it, or
  • click SELECT ROWS and enter how many rows to auto-select. Rows are selected from the top of the list, so use the sort drop-down (e.g. Points) first. This is handy for promoting or relegating teams.

4. Selected entries appear under Allocated Entries. Click the red minus to remove one. When you're happy, click IMPORT ENTRIES.

5. Read the warning and click CONTINUE WITH IMPORT. Imported entries are not restriction-checked (for example gender, age, club membership or financial status), so check any changes yourself.

6. You'll see "All the entries were imported." Review the entries in the new competition and make any changes (new or withdrawn teams, players moving grade).

Tips

  • Typical new-season workflow: Copy the competition, then Import Entries.
  • Teams can be imported as well as individual entries.
  • Leave Hide Selected Entries ticked to keep track of what's left to allocate.
