Copy a competition

Copying lets you reuse an existing competition's setup for a new season or a new phase (for example pre- and post-Christmas interclub) without going through the setup wizard again.

What gets copied

• All competition settings and configuration: format, result/scoring settings, entry settings, organising body, terms and so on.

What doesn't get copied

• Entries and teams. Bring these across afterwards with Import Entries (see Import entries from another competition).
• Schedules, fixtures and results.

Steps

1. Go to Competitions and find the competition you want to copy. Click the actions button (spanner icon) and choose View Dashboard.

2. On the competition dashboard, click COPY in the top-right of the competition card.

3. Click COPY to confirm.

4. MatchPoint creates the new competition as a DRAFT, named after the original with "(Copy …)" on the end. Click OK.

The copy is created as a draft competition.

5. Go to Competitions › Draft to find the new competition. Use Edit from the actions menu to update the name, dates and anything else that changes for the new season.

6. If you want the same players or teams, use Import Entries from the same actions menu, then build your schedule and activate the competition.

Tips

• Copy from the competition that most closely matches what you need, as every setting comes across.
• Check the result settings (for example number of sets) before scoring starts.
