Resolving duplicate member records (WTN merge)
Symptom
One person appears in MatchPoint with two member records, two NINs, or two WTNs. Details such as nationality or birthdate may differ between the records.
Resolution — order matters
- Identify both records and confirm they belong to the same person.
- Decide which WTN will be kept (usually the one with the fuller match history).
- Request the WTN merge first — the player (or Tennis NZ on their behalf) asks WTN to merge the two numbers into the chosen one.
- Once the merge is confirmed, archive the redundant club membership in MatchPoint (do not delete it). The archived record is preserved in the club’s archive tab.
Important: do not create a new account to “fix” a duplicate — that creates a third record. Merge first, then archive. Archiving also reduces clutter in member-selection lists.
