Resubmitting a result to WTN

Updated 8 Oct 2026

This article explains how to resubmit a competition result to the World Tennis Number (WTN) from MatchPoint, and when those changes will become visible. Use this when a result needs to be sent to WTN again — for example a player did not have a WTN at the time the result was finalised but has since been issued one, or a result was corrected and needs to flow through to WTN.

How results reach WTN

When a competition result is finalised in MatchPoint, it is submitted to WTN. If you need WTN to receive the result again, you re-finalise it — unfinalising and then finalising a result resubmits it to WTN. This is the same process used to correct a score; in this case you may not need to change anything, just re-finalise.

Note: WTN linkage only exists for events run in MatchPoint. Results run in Tournament Planner (TP) are not linked to WTN through this process.

Who should do this

This should be done by the competition administrator. Support staff should not resubmit results on a player’s behalf — refer players to their competition administrator.

Steps to resubmit a result to WTN

  1. Go to Competitions and click the Actions button (spanner icon) on the relevant competition.
  2. Open Results and go to the Finalise tab.
  3. Click the Actions button on the result to open it.
  4. Click the spanner icon at the top and select Unfinalise, then confirm.
  5. If the scores are already correct, you do not need to change anything. (If you do need to correct a score, click Update results, edit the set scores, then Set results.)
  6. Click Actions and select Finalise the result.

Once the match is re-finalised, it is resubmitted to WTN.

When will the change appear in WTN?

WTN does not update immediately. WTN processes updates once a week, on Wednesday (UK time). Updated results — and any change to a player’s WTN ranking — typically become visible on Thursday morning (NZ time).

Important to communicate to clubs and members: if you resubmit a result later in the week (for example on a Friday), it will not appear in WTN until after the following Wednesday’s processing run. Let members know there is a normal weekly delay so they do not expect an instant update.

Checking it worked

Scroll down on the result to view its log, which records when the result was finalised and resubmitted. This confirms the resubmission has been sent ahead of the next weekly WTN run.
